As the content of the original show, would mean nothing to a country not raised on Hollywood horror and sci-fi, it was completely re-written. The songs have different meanings, and all pop culture references have been altered. For example, instead of Faye Wray, it's Carmen Miranda!
The show was successful, but was plagued by problems. Cast changed, Eduardo Conde had to leave the cast due to health problems and was replaced by Edy Star, the lyrics weren't liked by many, this saw the owner of the theatre close the show after 3 months.
Using some of the original productions ideas, mixed with new concepts, the show was a "showcase" for "gender bending" local pop star Edy Star, who appears to have been not unlike the Frank character, in real life.
The show was recast in São Paulo in the same year, directed by Odavlas Petti, with Paulo Villaça, Antonio Biasi and Lucia Turnbull, replacing original actors who'd left. Som Livre released the Brazilian cast LP, but this album has never been re-released.
